Morgan Doyle

My work portrays the memory or recollection of scenes, the reconstruction of landscapes or structures which have lodged themselves in my mind. There they expand or grow even, as a crystal may grow, or perhaps, as a tree does. These images develop their own logic with an uncertain outcome.

Drawings work out the ideas in many ways, feeling their way to clarity and order. Whatever the theme, it is the nature and structure of the final work that determines the outcome. It may appear strange and unfamiliar….the beginning of the new.

My prints, and my paintings are made up from many such events or experiences, rather than just the one. An image may be many layered, in terms of both space and time, rarely, if ever, is it a direct reference to a particular place.
