Mary Penley

Mary Penley

I trained originally as a graphic and scenic designer working in broadcast television for a number of years. My love affair with clay began via evening classes and has continued ever since. I am continually learning and am stimulated by the infinite possibilities and challenges this medium offers. My fascination with texture and surface decoration, first explored as a graphic designer is now a characteristic of my work. I produce both wheel thrown and handbuilt pieces and work primarily with earthenware clay.

I am passionate about the visual arts, not only as a maker myself but in the context of marketing and selling other artists work. It is a privilege to promote such prodigious talent.
